Admissions

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

For Nursery Places

Our Nursery provides part-time education 2, for 3 and 4 year old children. The maximum number on roll in any one session is 26. Children may attend for 5 morning or 5 afternoon sessions. We also offer full days for 3 and 4 year old's with an option to pay for extra sessions. 6 30 hour funded places are available at Gilbert Heathcote. A child’s name can be added to the Nursery Admissions Book by telephoning the school and speaking to the Nursery Teacher Miss Kay.  Places are allocated in a fair manner and parents need to understand that the allocation of a Nursery place to a child who lives outside the normal catchment area does not automatically guarantee a place in the Reception class.

For Infant Places

The Local Authority (LA) is required to co-ordinate admissions to all Derbyshire Primary, Infant and Junior Schools for all pupils. The LA is responsible for all admissions and enables parents to express a preference for one, two or three schools and to place those preferences in rank order. Parents must make their application on a common application form or preferably via the Derbyshire County Council website, prior to the cut-off date, giving reasons for their preferred schools.  Further information about the coordinated admissions scheme is available in the Authority’s Parents’ Information Booklet – ‘An Essential Guide to Primary Education’.

If you would like to visit the school, please telephone 01246 450634 to arrange a         mutually convenient time.
