This term in Blue class our topic has been The Seaside. We have investigated how seaside holidays were like in the past using books, pictures, postcards and the internet. We discovered that most people in the past travelled to the seaside by steam train and they wore their best clothes. Most people only went for a day trip.
In art and design we have made Punch and Judy puppets and in groups we have acted out shows using a puppet theatre.
In I.C.T we have been finding out about personal safety online through the theme of Pirates. The children have enjoyed writing their own pirate blogs and diaries.
In P.E Rugger Eds have been teaching cricket skills and the children have enjoyed playing matches on the school field. Our sports day finished with all the year twos running a relay from one end of the field to the other.
We had two fantastic days out this term. The first trip was to North Anston butterfly House as part if our Habitats topic in science. We enjoyed handling some small and large mini beasts including a stick insect, giant African land snail and a cockroach! For our Leavers trip we had a great day out at Wheelgate Park, went on lots of rides and enjoyed an icecream.
Our Leavers Assembly theme this year is based on the problem of plastic littering our land and oceans creating a danger to all who live there. Some of us dress up as The Wombles from the 1970s T.V series and we have learnt their songs. We have changed some of the words to celebrate the retirement of Mrs. Ward our school secretary who is leaving this July.
