What a busy final term in Yellow class. Our topic has been the Sea and the seashore. In Literacy we have looked at the lighthouse keepers lunch books, written poetry and looked at instructions. In Numeracy we have been telling the time to the o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past and Year 2 have looked at 5 to and 5 past the hour. In computing we used all the skills we had learnt over the past year to create our own aliens and named them using our phonic sounds, these have been made into a book ready for the new Yellow class children to read in September. In art and DT we have created an aquarium of different sea creatures which we added to each weekly including a giant Jellyfish. We all had a fantastic day at The Deep and enjoyed looking at all the creatures there and we learnt lots about the oceans and sea creatures during our workshop and even got to watch the diving show. The Year 2 children also got to go on their leaver’s trip to Wheelgate Park where they enjoyed going on lots of rides and the odd ice cream!! The Year 2 children also had their Prom and their Leavers Assembly, the theme this year is based on the problem of plastic littering our land and ocean creating a danger to all who live there. Some of us dressed up as The Wombles from the 1970s T.V. series and we learnt their songs. We changed some of the words to celebrate the retirement of Mrs. Ward our school secretary who is leaving in July. Enjoy the summer.
